(1) What are the responsibilities and commitments of an Interactor?
At the most basic level, every Interactor is expected to attend Commserve (Community Service) sessions with their respective IGs every week. The day and time depends on the IG you are allocated to.
Every fortnight, we will hold General Gatherings (GGs), where the whole club comes as a whole to go for workshops or have club bonding. (You can check the previous blog posts to find out more about GGs!)
We will also organise Projects (like the 24 Hour Static Kayaking Challenge) or International Understanding (like OCIP) events at least twice per term. Every Interactor will have a chance to participate in these events, be it as organising team members or participants.

(2) Do I get to pick any IG I like?
Although we will factor in your preference when allocating IGs, we will also allocate the IGs based on your skill sets (working with children, elderly, etc) as well as how near the Commserve centre is from your home.
This is to ensure that we maintain our commitment to every Commserve centre.



(3) Why is there a need for an interview?
The interview allows us to have a better understanding of you as a person. We want to know whether you are suitable to join Interact. We are looking for people who have a genuine passion and enthusiasm to serve the community and school.



(4) Is the competition very stiff?
This question depends on the number of applicants - which of now, we cannot give an answer yet. For this year, we are looking to take in about 70 members for 7 IGs.



(5) What exactly do you all do in Interact? What events do you all have?
In essence, Interact is split into 4 different focuses.
The most basic of all is your Commserve sessions. This is what you do once a week with your IGs.
Following that will be our Clubserve sessions. This includes fortnightly GGs, as well as Club Outings that we organise twice a year. The Clubserve Comm is also actively involved in events such as Recruitment.
Projects form our club's outreach to the local community. These events, which are many, span throughout the year. Examples include the 24 Hour Static Kayaking Challenge, as well as CNY Visits.
International Understanding forms Interact's outreach to the international community. There are two main activities - IU Feste (May) and OCIP (end of year).



(6) What do you mean by Interact being a 1st CCA? Can I still join other CCAs after I join Interact?
The name "1st CCA" means simply that Interact should be your primary CCA (if you decide to join more than one CCA), Interact sessions should be prioritised regardless of the situation. This is because, by joining Interact, you are making a commitment to the school and community. Good attendance for all functions is expected.



(7) How is Interact different from CIP ExCo?
Interact and CIP ExCo are similar in a sense because both CCAs have a stake in the community.
However, what distinguishes us is that, by virtue of Interact being the largest CCA in school, we have a greater outreach and more opportunities to develop ourselves as better people.
Interactors have opportunities to serve at many different functions, with different types of beneficiaries. They also have the chance to organise activities. One very special thing about Interact is that we are the only CCA in Hwa Chong to organise, run and execute our very own OCIP.
As we are supported and sponsored by the Rotary Club of Singapore, Interactors can also have fellowship with Rotarians. Such networking events give Interactors new perspectives and adds on to their knowledge.

(8) We haven't received our timetables yet! What do we do?

We do think that the J1 batch will receive your timetables from your CTs by this Friday. In the case that you do not, please wait till Saturday night. There might be a chance the timetable will be posted on SMB.

In the unlikely case that the you guys do not receive your timetable by the deadline for the application form, please just send in your application form nonetheless.

We will give further instructions on how you can submit your timetables to us.
